High Performance Composites
Composites are becoming an increasingly important technology in our lives. In addition to being used in commercial and military aircraft and ships, high performance cars, bridges, and wind turbines, composites are also being used for everyday household objects such as tennis racquets, helmets, golf clubs, and skis. There is an ever-increasing demand for technicians and engineers who have the skills to work with these materials.
Students in this course will learn how to safely use and select composite materials to design, build, and/or repair a variety of fiber reinforced projects including canoes, kayaks, snow and skate boards for personal use, as well as world-class Electrathon race cars. Advanced students may qualify to take the test for Certified Composites Technicians.
