Firefighting
This program is for students interested in being trained to the National Fire Protection Association’s 1001 standards for professional qualifications of fire fighters.  This training is required by area fire departments before entering structure fires or attacking car fires.  Classes are taught by state certified fire instructors with standard materials used throughout the state by most fire departments.   There will be a combination of classroom, fitness training, and hands-on experience using fire fighting tools and equipment.  Extensive reading and written work is also required.  Students will take the State of Maine Fire Fighter Written Certification Exam at the end of the course.  Classes meet off site at the Farmington Fire Station.
This class requires that students achieve and maintain a level of physical fitness to enable the individual to be able to chop, lift, drag, and climb.  Students will be expected to climb ladders to over 30 feet; chop holes in roofs; drag fire hose; set up ladders, wear a SCBA air pack and work as a team.
